The Tension lamp takes its starting point from the electricity grid — not the light it produces, but the structures that carry it. Its design stems from a longstanding interest in high-voltage pylons and poles: structures built to fulfil a precise function, whose geometry — arms, tension rods and angles repeated over kilometres — acquires a distinct visual presence, independent of any original aesthetic intention. Tension translates this structural logic to the scale of a lamp, preserving the economy of means and structural clarity of its inspiration. It is not a literal reference to an electricity pylon, but the result of applying the same reasoning: a minimal structure, designed to support and distribute, that also becomes the form of the object. It comes in two versions, white and black, which are more than variations in finish. Each colour creates a different quality of light. In the white version, the light is brighter and more diffuse, reflected by the structure itself. In the black version, the structure absorbs and shapes some of the light, creating a more restrained presence, defined as much by the light emitted as by the shadows the structure casts upon itself.
